The pop music theme Tuesday night on Idol was a gift to local contestant Phil Stacey, because the big Police fan got to sing "Every Breath You Take." He was strong on the chorus, had a nice tone, and inspired guest Gwen Stefani to say, "I was pleasantly surprised." He should be safe for another week.
